These long days at work are a killer. I signed off before 7pm last night though as I had lots to do. Tonight is Priscilla Queen of the Desert night. Debbie has been to where the ping pong scene was filmed (a woman of many talents) and is eager to see it on screen (the movie, not whatever she did there). Andrew is over from Switzerland so tonight is our perfect opportunity for good food, friends, fizz and films.
All the curries are made and just need warming up later. I have to say they are smelling pretty good. We have a corn curry (with dry roasted peanuts), aubergine and chickpea curry, butternut squash with red pepper and orange curry, and a chicken one that has loads of chillies in it. The champagne is in the fridge, that we are having with hibiscus flowers, courtesy of Debbie's trip. I have also saved the fine wine John gave me for Christmas. Paul has been tidying up, as he's better at that than me.
Only one thing is missing. I ordered the DVD last Sunday. The very boring work book I ordered with it arrived on Friday, but the DVD still hasn't come, so Priscilla night without the main act. This needed quick thinking. I sent a text out to see if anyone nearby had it, and got negative replies. I then got a phone call from a neighbour to say he had it, but he was phoning from Lanzarote (where it is 25 degrees and lager is £1.30 a pint in happy hour). We have great neighbours, and he told me exactly where in the house it was, still in the cellophane, and where I could get the key and alarm code! Since then another copy has come to light so I won't be doing any house-breaking today.
I'm up to £157 in sponsorship now, so thanks to everyone. 99 days today..... I did my Sunday training today just in case I'm a bit slower than normal (if that is possible)tomorrow. Todays' challenge was to run for as much of 15 minutes as possible. My body didn't like that challenge. However, as the end target is to complete 10kms in as close to 90 minutes as possible I don't think I'll worry too much. I did 30 minutes and managed 3.59kms, just slightly more than in the 30 minutes I did last Sunday. I'm pleased I'm going in the right direction. I came out of the gym to glorious sunshine. If I hadn't forgotten my hairbrush (so I looked a sight) I'd have sat outside with half a shandy, watching the world, and the cars going along the M66, go by.
I've been called on to do my bit (bathroom cleaning, the joy).
Here's to Priscilla!
