End of week 13 - a day late

Well, the week started off very well but then I've not done any running since! I did have good intentions and took my kit away with me, but it stayed in the boot. I treated myself to Skechers Shape-ups though, and I'm nearly a size 8 already...

Last Wednesday we went down to Portsmouth. I went to a funeral while P and H went around the historic dockyard, taking in The Victory, The Discovery, and The Mary Rose. From the little I saw of Portsmouth it looked lovely, and the Chinese we had was very nice! On Thursday we went to Stonehenge. The road running next to it is a nightmare as everything slows down to see it (hardly surprising). I have to admit, I was a little under-awed by it, until I paid the money and went closer. I totally changed my mind - it was fabulous. From there we went to Avebury so see the stone circle there. That was a gorgeous village. We went to the National Trust cafe for lunch, and P was horrified to find himself in the only vegetarian NT restaurant. H and I enjoyed our lunch while P had a bag of crisps.

From Avebury we went to Bath which I loved. I'd got a great deal at The Hilton, thinking that as we were only there for 24 hours maximum we'd stay somewhere nice and central. We got an upgrade on the room, overlooking Pulteney Bridge. The shops were superb but I was very restrained. The restaurant we chose had Mojita as the cocktail of the week, so I was happy! We went to The Roman Baths on Friday, which again was great. Considering we went for a funeral we had a brilliant 48 hours away and I think Val would have been impressed by how much we crammed in - I was.

Unfortunately things took a downwards turn when we got home - nothing I'm putting in writing but my hair has more grey in it and I have consumed far too much red wine! These things are sent to try us!

Yesterday we set off for a walk and noticed the flag was up on top of Peel Tower at Holcombe Hill. H has never been up to the top so we did that (the flag means that the tower is open and you can climb to the top). I was surprised. I had to hang onto the walls at the top as it was quite scary. As we hadn't eaten quite enough over the previous few days we thought we'd better go to Bella Italia (see photo - not the chain one, our local one) for tea.

And so the week ended, no running but I did walk miles.

There is some brilliant news though - I now have £302 sponsorship!!!
