RunKeeper Rules

I went to see Hachi - A Dog's Tale yesterday at the cinema. I didn't know anything about it other than Harrison and his friend wanted to see it and it was a 'U' certificate so it must be suitable. I've only just stopped crying - what a sad story! It starts off as a feel-good one but the end is heartbreaking. It is good but don't go unless you have something to cheer you up afterwards.

Fortunately I did. I made chicken casserole with dumplings, and in true Hale tradition, had syrup on the dumplings. They were absolutely gorgeous.

Being off work in the school holidays means it is difficult to get to the gym. When it stopped raining earlier I got N to watch Harrison while I went for a run up the Kirklees Trail. I set RunKeeper up on my iPhone with my partyparty playlist and off I went. I went a lot slower than usual (think Eddie Izzard after 25 1/2 marathons) but went further than normal. The only time I walked, for a minute or so, was when my dad phoned me. I wondered what was happening - The Spice Girls suddenly changed to the Russell Watson ringtone on my iPod. When I got back my horrible lot at home said I hadn't done enough! RunKeeper said different, but then I realised it had once again been confused with the clouds and had thought I'd done 6.05kms. I was in for 10 minutes then set off again (the sun had come out so the GPS signal was good), doing exactly the same route. I wasn't impressed when I got back as it was only 2.89kms (1.8 miles). However, that is 5.78kms altogether, 3.6 miles, and there was only that tiny bit of walking, and had my house been further away I could have managed more.

I'll be out of action for the next couple of days. Tomorrow I'm driving to Portsmouth for a funeral so it will be an early start. I'll have to make up for lost time at the weekend.
